Iran's new ambassador to Brazil starts mission

TEHRAN - In preparation for his upcoming diplomatic mission to Brazil, Abdollah Nekounam, the recently appointed ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brazil, met with Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions involved Nekounam presenting an overview of the current status of his mission and articulating strategic plans for the future expansion of collaborations.

Amir Abdollahian underscored the substantial importance of Iran-Brazil relations across multiple dimensions. This encompasses political, economic, and international cooperation, placing a noteworthy emphasis on collaboration within the BRICS framework. The top Iranian diplomat emphasized the imperative need for continuous development and reinforcement of relations across diverse fields of cooperation.

The newly appointed envoy, in the meantime, briefed the foreign minister on the plans he is to pursue during his diplomatic mission in Brazil.

Nekounam, boasting a history of diverse roles, shared his valuable experiences. Notably, he served in the prominent role of Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Munich, Germany, and as the Consul General in Hong Kong and Macau.

As Iran joined BRICS as a full member on January 1st, the country’s areas of focus within the BRICS framework – including politics and security, economics and investment, and humanitarian aid – intensified with the other members of the geographical bloc such as Brazil.
